College Dorm Room Decor Essentials {for her}

July 14, 2014

I can still remember my very first day of college....
I am aging myself here.... it will be seventeen years ago this August I began
my college journey and back then they didn't have half the amazingly cool stuff they have now for college life....

I can remember pretty much packing up my entire room (décor and all) and making my way to my 4x4 (ok maybe a tad bit larger) room I shared with two other ladies.... It was fun for sure, but looking back I wish I had a little better knowledge of how I could make my dorm room a little less institutional and more cozy and home like....

I know a few young ladies in our family that are heading away to college this coming fall and I thought it would be really fun to put a little inspiration board together to get them started. I also found a free Dorm Room Checklist printable over at How to Nest for Less to ensure they have everything they need to begin their college careers!

sources: Pottery Barn & House of Belonging

I love this little ensemble.... I feel its really most important to be comfortable in your new surroundings when heading to college...I can remember how over whelmed I felt and the one thing I truly missed other than my mom & dad was my bed and my cozy, comfy bed linens...

I adore the dorm line Pottery Barn Teen has introduced!! That is where my inspiration came for this inspiration board..... And I just had to add one of my favorite sayings from my go to shop for signs, House of Belonging.
It's always a great idea to put things on your walls that inspire and motivate you.... even in your home "away" from home!!

Thanks for stopping by and come back tomorrow to check out my top pins for this week!!

*This is not a sponsored post. Just sharing what inspires me to inspire you!*

Cheers!!

Baby Inspo Part II {prince of the sea nursery}

April 15, 2014

Hi again friends!!

I'm back on this rainy Tuesday with part two of my baby inspiration board.

Yesterday I shared a "princess" nursery inspiration board with you.

If you missed part one you can read about it here.

I spoke with my friend this morning and asked her what she thought of

the princess inspiration board.... I'm happy to announce that she LOVED it!!

I'm also so elated to have learned that she and her hubby will in fact be

finding out the gender of their baby!!! YAY!! So excited for them!

Now all I have to do is talk them into having a gender reveal party!!

Ok, for the "prince" nursery I decided to go with a nautical theme.

Coastal décor is so much fun and I really could have gone crazy with this

inspiration board, there are so many options when it comes to this type

of style. I'm not a coastal gal myself (I'm all country!!) so I really enjoyed

putting this together!!

Here is goes!! Prince of the sea nursery!!

I have to admit if we have number three lord help me and its a boy this is

the way I'll be going!! I adore the vintage marquee anchor!! I got the idea

from another dear friend of mine who is expecting in May. She has the

exact one in her gender neutral nursery. Thanks for the idea Chelsea!!

Here are both spaces....

Now all we need to do is wait and find out which space will be used...

Boy or Girl????

Finally, as promised the source list.

paint | Benjamin Moore

princess | mauve hint

prince | hale navy

Any other questions please feel free to leave a comment!

I'd love to hear which inspiration board is your favorite!!

I'll be back tomorrow with my Wednesday Wish List!!

Have a great day!!

Baby Inspo Part I {nursery fit for a princess}

April 14, 2014

Happy Monday friends!!

Hope you all had a great weekend!!

Spring break is upon us and so are numerous spring projects!!

This week I have the kiddos so there's not much project work being

done in our house, but I had a little time today to create an inspiration board

for a dear friend... She and her husband will be having their first baby

later this fall.... They will not be finding out the gender! YIKES! I don't

know how expecting mommy's & daddy's do it!! I am so impatient I just

had to know with both my kids! For me it left the guess work of choosing

a name and of course decorating the nursery!!

My friend and I thought it would be neat to have me create inspiration

boards for both a prince and a princess!! I will be sharing the "princess"

nursery inspiration board today and the "prince" inspiration board

tomorrow. Both design boards will be focused around the crib, which is the

 "splurge" piece in both rooms!!

I had so much fun creating this inspiration board!! I hope you

and the mommy and daddy to be love it as much as I do!!

What do you think?

My favorite piece in this room is the sign.... So inspirational...

Especially for a princess....

Be sure to check back tomorrow for the prince nursery inspiration board

and complete sources for both spaces!!

JJ's "Big Boy" Room {inspiration board}

April 12, 2014

What a gorgeous Saturday!!

Hope you are all enjoying this much awaited spring weather!!

Today I thought I would pop in and share an inspiration board I created

for my little man JJ's "big boy" room....

In a few short weeks he will be turning two!!

I can't believe how the time has passed and just how much he has grown.

I adore his room right now and most of the furniture that is in the room now

will stay, but I think it's time to be done with the crib

and diaper table and his closet needs updating for sure!!

I will be changing up the wall gallery that is currently up and the bedding as

well. If you haven't seen what the rooms looks like you can find that post

 here.

So here is what I'm loving right now for the little man's room.

What do you think??

I adore the idea of using a real tool box to store things from clothes to toys

and the vintage soda crate is a great way to display all those little toys that

never seem to really have a home other than all over the floor.

I am loving that dresser which is way over my budget, but the finish will

be the perfect inspiration for the dresser I found on Craig's List this winter

for only $30!! And how perfect is that marquee letter "J"?? That is a must

for over the bed since the room is a bit narrow and there's really not a lot

of room for a proper head board! It also makes a great night light!!

That's about it!! I need to tackle our master bedroom and the dining room

before I even can think about getting started on the kids rooms!!

You can find more of my inspiration boards here, here and here!!

Have a great weekend friends!!

Kids | Guest Bathroom {inspiration board}

March 22, 2014

Whoo Hoo!!! Spring is here and the sun is shinning!!

Happy Saturday friends!

Today I've been thinking about all our summer projects and the next thing

on our home updates "to do" list is the upstairs bathroom.

This is going to be a pretty big job since we have to blow out the roof and

dormer it out and start from scratch, so it is on the ladder part of our list, but

I thought I would put together an inspiration board to get the ball rolling.

This bathroom will be the kids and guest bath. We haven't decided if we are

going to put in a bathtub, shower or both. It's not a great deal of space but

either way I do think we need one or the other....

Since this bath with be shared between Gracie & JJ it needs to be gender

neutral, so I'm going to try and have the best of both worlds without making

it too girly or too boyish. Here is what I have been drooling over so far...

I adore the dark walls and the pink rug!!

Right now I have my heart set on that double utility sink. Since the space is

small I don't want to take up so much room with a vanity sink. What about

storage you say?? No worries, there we will have plenty of room for a linen

closet and those cute baskets from World Market will be perfect for storing

towels and toilet paper!!

I'm really loving the dark wall color over the stark white tile, but to stay

on budget and keep it simple I'm thinking white planked boards instead!

Now that I've got all that off my chest it's time to finally pick a paint color

for the master bedroom and get painting!!

What are you up to this weekend??

Time for a Make Over {the master bedroom that is}

March 18, 2014

Hi friends!!

Hope you are having a great week so far! I'm feeling better and I've been

busy planning spring projects. One major project is updating our master

bedroom. The room has really been neglected since we purchased our home

six years ago and is really in desperate need for a make over!!

I have changed my mind so many times regarding the paint color I wanted

in this space, but one particular look just keeps popping up.... Not only in

my head, but on my Pinterest board too!! So I decided to create a mood

board to get me started, but I figured I should show you what our bedroom

looks like this very moment. Please forgive the poor quality picture as the

room is very small and I can barely get a photo of it.... And please excuse

the lack of décor....like I said it is a neglected space for sure!!

Yes I know.... pathetic. Have no fear I have a plan!!

Here's what I have put together so far....

Hope you like it!!

I had wanted to paint the walls a darker color, but the room is so small

I fear it will be less romantic and more coffin like if I were to go to a

dark dramatic color, so I'm opting to go a bit lighter with the wall color and

leave the drama for the night stands and the walls.....

The "to do" list for the room is pretty much simply painting the walls and

nightstands, new lighting, bedding and mirrors for over the night stands.

I'm hoping to get on this ASAP!!

Do you have a neglected room in your home???

Please tell me I'm not the only one!!! If you do I'd love to hear about it!!

Have a great night and I'll be back tomorrow with my Wednesday wish list!

Shared Space {the playroom ~ client project}

March 4, 2014

Hi friends!!

Today I wanted to stop in real quick and share a space that I am creating

for a friend of mine with a growing family in need of a playroom that will

also act as a guest space for when family and friends come to visit.

The space is under construction at the moment but we have already started

brain storming for what will work best in a small space for this large

growing family of soon to be six!!

The family is looking to a create a play space that is upbeat, fun, cozy

and functional all at the same time!! Here is what I came up with so far!

Can you guess my favorite thing about this space??

Yup!! Those pillows!! I will be posting more pictures of the space once

walls are up, rugs are put in and painting is complete!!

I'll be back tomorrow with my Wednesday wish list!!

Happy Tuesday!!

Gracie's Room Update {New for Spring}

January 25, 2014

Ok, so I'm still freezing my bones off here and for sure have a bit of

spring fever!! Being cooped up in the house all day has me going stir

crazy!! I really need to get out! I have re-painted my hallway (again) and

I'm already starting on my spring projects! Something has got to get me out

of this freezing funk!!

Many of my home projects involve a ton of painting so I thought I would

work on giving our daughters room a little spring update with new bedding,

and wall décor and it is time to deal with her small awkward closet!

My inspiration came from this stunning little girls room by Kristin over at

The Hunted Interior. You must check out how she converted her dining

room (yes I said dining room!!) into the most whimsy and adorable little

girls room!!

I will post sources and pictures once I get going on making updates!!

Happy Weekend all!!
