Saturday Dreamy {Louis VX Armoire}

Happy Saturday friends!!

 

The weather in CT is finally feeling normal! Hoping this is a sure sign that

 

spring is near!!

 

I'm stopping in real quick to share this amazing piece I discovered at a local

 

antique shop. I almost fell off my seat when I saw this beauty!! I think you

 

will love her too....

I can't even get over the exquisite beauty of this piece!

 

What I wouldn't give to have this in my bedroom!! Not only is the flower

 

detail amazing, but it is large enough to store clothing, blankets and maybe

 

even our TV!!

 

This armoire is currently up for auction.... I'm sure it will be a show

 

stopper..... I would love try my hand at the bidding, but not sure my budget

 

 will allow it. How fantastic would it be to have her in our home?

 

Ahhhhh.... I'll just keep dreaming!!

Wednesday Wish List {bakers rack}

Happy Wednesday friends!

 

I'm back with another Wednesday wish list...

 

If you follow my posts you know I am in the process of updating our

 

dining area.... If you missed those posts you can find them here and here.

 

So as I've mentioned before our dining space isn't very large and there is not

 

really a lot of room for furniture. I did find a lovely corner piece that I adore

 

and is perfect for the space but now I have the other corner of the room with

 

a large wall that really needs to be used for more storage but I can't make up

 

my mind as to exactly what I want to put there. I really don't want another

 

corner piece and I don't want a large hutch.... I has planned on putting up

 

some open shelving, but I'm still on the fence....

 

The one look I am really loving these days are bakers racks. I came across

 

some really lovely ones on Pinterest. Here are just a few on my wish list.

I love the look of these... The only problem for me is one, the size.

 

 Most of the ones I have found online that

 

I really like are all about three or four inches to big! So frustrating!!

 

And two, cost! Many of these are priced in the thousands which is way over

 

my budget and you really don't see many of these popping up on

 

Craig's List to often....

 

So in the mean time I will keep searching.... If I can't find a bakers rack

 

that's on my wish list I will have to settle for some inexpensive

 

open shelving!

Nobody Put's Baby in the Corner!! {unless it's a corner cabinet!}

Happy Monday friends!!

 

And what a fantastic Monday it is!!

 

I am so excited to share this post with you today.

 

 The other day I talked about finding the perfect corner cabinet for our

 

dining room. If you missed it you can read about it here....

 

Once again I religiously searched on Craig's List for the perfect piece and

 

boy did I score big time!! I found the perfect corner cabinet and it didn't

 

break the bank!! I sold our pie safe a few weeks ago and was able to

 

purchase this piece and still have money left over!! I am so happy I can

 

hardly contain myself! Here she is......

 

 

 

I almost fell of my chair when I found her!!

 

I haven't decided if I will paint her with chalk paint or sand her down to

 

her natural wood.... I'm in no rush to figure it out, just so pleased to have

 

more storage space in this corner of our home!!!

Wednesday Wish List {corner cabinet}

Today is "wish list" Wednesday once again here @ Gracie Blue!!

Last week I raved about my wish for a white kitchen. Today we are taking

 

my wish list to the dining room.... Our dining room has taken on many,

 

many changes since we purchased our home almost six years ago. I really

 

wasn't focused on function when we moved in, all I wanted was this huge

 

farmhouse table from Pottery Barn! I envisioned endless parties and dinners

 

being hosted in our dining room and was more concerned with just having a

 

large table in the room rather than the over all function of the room in

 

regards to our immediate family and lack of storage space in our little

 

cape style home. So you understand lets take a walk down memory lane...

 

Here is our dining room just one year ago...

 

 

Looking at these photos now really gives me anxiety!! It's funny, every

 

single piece of furniture in this room has been sold on Craig's List!  It's

 

crazy how something you absolutely LOVE one day you can't stand the

 

next! That is exactly what happened in this space!

 

I am in the process of painting and re-creating the space so until then here's

 

a picture of our dining room just a few months ago.

 

This lonely space is screaming for function! So on my wish list for this

 

room is a nice antique corner cabinet of some sort. The room is not large

 

and with the two corners and two windows it really doesn't give way for a

 

whole lot of furniture so a corner cabinet would add function and character

 

to the space! Here are just a few on my wish list!

                        Neat right? Having a piece that is actually built to be placed

 

in a corner is perfect and will save so much space while adding tons of

 

storage! Now the only thing left to do is find one within my budget!

Update {Craig's List Find}

Hi there! Sorry I've been MIA for a couple of weeks! Trying to get things in order while starting a new part-time job and being a mommy kinda took over! But I'm back and with a new Craig's List find!!

How cute is this vintage school desk?? Not sure just how old it is exactly, but it's adorable and for $25 how could I resist??!!! I had originally planned on painting it and putting it in my son's room, but now I'm not sure... As you can see from the picture my daughter has made it into her "homework" desk as she calls it and I sort of like how it looks against the chalkboard, but not completely sure yet.... I've also gotten used to it natural "worn out" color that makes it so unique so I may just hold off on painting it. I may just use some Anne Sloan chalk paint on the legs and keep the top as is...

Dining Room Update {New Bench}

Happy Friday all!! And Ohhhhhh what a happy day it is!!! We finally picked up the bench of my dreams and it now has a place in my dining room under the window....

If anyone knows me they know I ADORE benches and baskets. Together, separately any which way I LOVE them.... You can check out my Pinterest board here if you don't believe me!

Ok, back to the bench.... I have always envied the look of a old vintage church pew in the home used for seating in an entry or as additional seating at a dining table. Every single one I found was either way to expensive or wayyyy to long! Until I found this little number.....

 

 

 

 

 

Isn't she just gorgeous??? Its the perfect size for my small dining room and now we have somewhere to put all those shoes lying all over my dining room floor or the case of water that has been sitting near the stairs for a few days now!! It is functional and did I mention GORGEOUS??!!

Opps! I did!! But seriously this just makes me happy!!

If you live in the Tri-state area and love this bench as much as I do, you can visit this store and get your very own.... It was not cheap, but I have waited a very long time for this piece and it was well worth the wait! One thing I've learned (the very hard way) is to NOT impulse buy! If something you see doesn't scream in your face "TAKE ME HOME!!" or make your heart pace with anxiety there is something better out there and you will find it!!!

This is by far my favorite furniture purchase ever!!!

What I'm Loving Now {Dining Room Redo Inspo}

 Now that the living room re-do is complete it's time to work on the dining room..... This is what I am loving right at this very moment but I am not sure it's very practical for our family, but I so adore this look and will try to replicate the colors and feeling of a nice cozy, bright eating space!

IKEA STOOL ~ {DIY}

Happy Wednesday all!

I have a quick post about a DIY project I attempted over this past weekend and it actually came out pretty good! I didn't take many pictures because honestly it was way too easy!

I picked up one of those small unfinished stools at IKEA for my kitchen a few weeks ago and the other day I came along this post on Pinterest (I mean really where else?!!) and I thought what an adorable idea, so I took a go at it and I am really very happy with how it turned out! I used some extra paint I had on hand from when we re-painted the bathroom (much more on that later!). I was going to spray paint the stool at first, but I was in a rush of course and I just decided to paint it. The base white color is white dove by Benjamin Moore and the for the words I used my favorite color right now, Moonshine by Benjamin Moore. It's a great, gray/green color that isn't to harsh. More honesty here, I didn't even bother sanding or priming the stool. It was very smooth when we purchased it and I just did two coats of the white dove....I did wipe it down first because after sitting in my office for two weeks it did collect some dust!

The next step was pretty simple too. I pick two fonts I loved and used carbon paper to trace it on the stool. There was some carbon marks left around the letters, but I just painted over it with the white paint. Then I filled in the letters......Pretty simple. Took me all of 45min. I was very careful when filling in the letters and I used three different sized brushes.

The final step was just to spray paint over the words with clear coat. You will want to make sure you don't skip that step if you plan on actually putting the stool to use!

And here it is!
