Summers End {New Beginnings}

August 26, 2013

Hi all.... I can't believe that summer is almost over. I had so many things on my "to do" list but every time I try to get one thing or another done it seems like something more important comes up. This summer was filled with hot days, and fun summer nights. Although its coming to an end, new beginnings come along with it. Our daughter Gracie starts kindergarten....This change of season is my favorite time of year and I am so excited to see what all these new beginnings bring....
But before we say goodbye to summer for good I thought I'd share some of my favorite summer moments....

I hope the summer end brings great beginnings to you all!!

Happy Tuesday!! {Home Goods Happy}

August 13, 2013

Happy Tuesday all!!
Have you ever gone into Home Goods and walked out with absolutely nothing? As we all know Home Goods is hit or miss right? Well yesterday was a complete hit for me!! I went to get one single basket for my office and I came out with these!!

The basket it for all my larger craft items that are to large to fit in a drawer. The rustic chippy frame and the adorable boxwood plant is for my bathroom which is in dyer need of some type of decor since we painted it a while back. One can never have too many pasta bowls and how could I say no to a large pitcher for only $14.99??!! Perfect for my hydrangeas! And how about those curtains? I have been searching for the perfect window treatments for my dining room but refused to pay over $100 for each!! $20 for a pair is a steel and if I really don't like them the fabric is great for a throw pillow! Not too bad right?
Have you gotten Home Goods happy lately?

Pinterest {A Love Hate Relationship}

August 10, 2013

Happy Saturday all!!
If you know anything about me you know that I adore Pinterest. I first discovered it when I was putting together my daughters new bedroom. I had one board and simply used it as a tool for items I needed to purchase and color schemes.... It quickly turned into an obsession! I have a board for everything and anything you can think of. I use it now to collect everything and anything I adore, need to have, must do or want to concur!  This is where the problem lies. I think there comes a point where there's just too much information and I get side tracked as to what exactly I want to do next! My DIY board for example has over 1,000 pins! There were so many things I had every intention of getting to that just didn't happen because I found something else that I insisted I needed to do... Which lead me to create yet another DIY board that became a MUST DO board and now I have over 300 pins on that board! Lets not even get into my style boards and recipe boards..... There just SOoooo many amazing, lovely, yummy, gorgeous, creative, adorable things and I want to do them all!!!! I've thought about deleting my account and starting over, but honestly I don't think I could survive. Pinterest is my me time and sometimes it just relaxes me and makes me happy to know that I have a collection of images that I can look at whenever I want all in one place.... I guess it's safe to say that this relationship is truly love and here to stay!!
How do you feel about Pinterest? Are loving it or over it?

JJ's First Vacation {DIY Vacation Keepsakes}

August 8, 2013

Hi all! We have been home from our vacation to The Cape for almost three days now and still I have suitcases to be unpacked, piles of laundry to be done and a car to clean! But being the impatient and "all over the place" person I am I took some time to put together JJ's first vacation keepsake. Now really, I'm not a big fan of those "cheesy" nick knacks you see in all those souvenir shops, but I do LOVE cozy sweatshirts, Christmas ornaments and a good book or puzzle. That brings me to a super inexpensive and easy way to make a keepsake that has meaning and will not just sit on the shelf and collect dust! YEAH!! This was our son JJ's very first vacation and I wanted to get something that he could look back on and really appreciate. So, I found a really cute (inexpensive) children's book and wrote a little note, the date and a little paragraph about the most exciting part of the trip, which unfortunately was JJ falling down the stairs that resulted in a trip to the ER in an ambulance..... NOT a proud moment as a parent for sure, but accidents happen and although not the most fun we had, it happened and it was a first none the less....
I also picked up two cute Christmas ornaments and wrote the date on each
with a sharpie! On JJ's I wrote "JJ's first vacation"

Cute right??
What is your favorite vacation souvenir?

The Cape ~ {Nautical Crush}

August 7, 2013

I can't remember the last time I was in Cape Cod or if I have ever been at all, but what a beautiful, charming place... So family friendly and I LOVE the fact that we didn't have to get on a ferry to get there!! I also think I have a new found love for that Nautical style I see all over Pinterest. I'm not going to lie I've never really been a "beach" girl. I grew up in the country riding horses, four wheelers and hiking.... But having stayed in a gorgeous guest house complete with two master bedrooms and four bathrooms all decked out in nautical décor I think I'm in love....

This a just a sneak peak of this gorgeous house. My two favorite things were the lantern in the dining area and this cozy chair.... I've fallen in love with the color blue all over again.... Now I have to figure out how to use it in my home...
Here are some of my favorite moments from our little family vacation...

Hope you are making these type of summer memories too!

Update {Craig's List Find}

August 2, 2013

Hi there! Sorry I've been MIA for a couple of weeks! Trying to get things in order while starting a new part-time job and being a mommy kinda took over! But I'm back and with a new Craig's List find!!
How cute is this vintage school desk?? Not sure just how old it is exactly, but it's adorable and for $25 how could I resist??!!! I had originally planned on painting it and putting it in my son's room, but now I'm not sure... As you can see from the picture my daughter has made it into her "homework" desk as she calls it and I sort of like how it looks against the chalkboard, but not completely sure yet.... I've also gotten used to it natural "worn out" color that makes it so unique so I may just hold off on painting it. I may just use some Anne Sloan chalk paint on the legs and keep the top as is...
What do ya think??
